Videos are playing slowly or periodically freeze.

This is usually caused by a slow internet connection. To stream 4k videos we recommend a stable 15Mbps internet connection and for 1080p videos it should be at least 10Mbps. If your internet connection is slower or has occasional speed drops, you may benefit from selecting a lower resolution such as 540p or 360p which does not require as much bandwidth. If you’re not sure what speed your internet is, you can test it here: http://www.speedtest.net/

If your internet connection is fast enough but you still have this issue, the following may help:

  • If you are connected via Wi-Fi, try connecting directly to your modem or router with a cable.
  • Try turning your modem off for 10 seconds and then turning it back on. Once it reboots, your connection may be more stable.
  • If you are using cable internet, try browsing the site at a time when other people in your neighborhood are not using the internet, as they may be slowing down your connection.
  • If you are running anti-virus software, try temporarily disabling it when you play the video. Overly aggressive anti-virus software may slow down the playback with constant scans. Don't forget to turn your anti-virus back on when you're done watching!
  • Close any other programs running on your computer that may be using up your bandwidth or your computer's processing power.
